The beauty of crystal is born from the convergence of four elements, the same ones that according to the ancients give life to the entire universe. The same for sixty-five years, in Capraia Fiorentina.
Sand becomes crystal.
Earth provides the raw material: silica powder and lead oxide. The fire of the furnace unites them, indissolubly, in the crucible. Air, blown into the incandescent crystal by the master's breath, sets its initial shape. A drop of water marks its detachment from the blowpipe, completing the creation.
The selection of ingredients, the control of the melting process, the hand of the blower and then that of the cutter: every stage is essential, every piece born from it is unique and unrepeatable.
Man and nature work in unison. It is the only key to understanding how, at Mario Cioni, sand becomes a dream.
